Hypothyroidism:
we start to suit a slower metabolism

With hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), metabolism is slow and weight does not come off easily. We start from a low stage.

  1. Low thyroid hormone
  2. Slower metabolism
  3. Weight does not drop with what you eat

We consult nationwide through remote consultations. Results may vary from person to person.

Why is it hard?

Why is it hard for this body to lose weight?

A body that uses less energy

When thyroid hormone is low, the body uses less energy. More may be left over even from the same meals.

Swelling and fatigue

When your body swells and tires easily, you move less. That becomes a cycle in which you lose even less.

Overly aggressive weight loss

If you reduce too quickly, your energy drops further. You need a pace your body can keep up with.

If this sounds like you

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • Even when you eat less, your weight barely changes.
  • Your body feels heavy from the morning and you get very sleepy in the afternoon.
  • Your hands and feet swell and you feel the cold a lot.
  • You take thyroid medicine, yet you cannot lose weight, which is frustrating.
  • You worry whether you can take herbal medicine and whether it will conflict with your medicine.
Miple's prescription

How a Miple prescription works

  1. Checking medication and numbersWe look at the thyroid medicine you take and your recent test results. We also check whether you have hyperthyroidism.
  2. Starting at a low stageWe start at the lowest of MYCUT's 7 stages. We watch your body's response and raise it slowly.
  3. Keep your existing medicineKeep taking your thyroid medicine as it is. Do not stop or change it on your own.
  4. Monthly check-insWe look at body fat, muscle, and swelling. If anything feels uncomfortable, we lower it one stage right away.
Diet and lifestyle tips

Try this at home

  • Take your thyroid medicine at the time and in the way your attending doctor set.
  • Do not skip meals, and make sure you get protein. Muscle is the organ that uses the most energy.
  • On days when you feel swollen, cut back on spicy and salty food and late-night snacks.
  • Go to bed early and get some sunlight during the day. If you want more, start with light walking and raise the intensity.

Consultation process

How your care proceeds

First month

Adjusting and finding your stage

We start at the lowest stage and watch how your body responds. Mild early discomfort gradually eases.

Months 2–3

Monthly body composition check · stage adjustment

Each month we check body composition and adjust the stage. Your thyroid medicine stays as it is.

Maintenance stage

Months 3–6, lowering stages gradually

Over 3–6 months we gradually step the stages down and settle the eating habits you will keep.

This describes the care process. The pace and results of weight loss vary from person to person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hypothyroidism: your questions

Can I take it if I have hypothyroidism?

In most cases, yes. We check your medication and levels and start at a low stage.

Can I take it together with thyroid medicine?

Please tell us the name and dose. We check whether they can be taken together, and please keep taking your existing medicine as is.

Will my thyroid levels improve too?

It is a diet prescription, not one that addresses your levels. Please get thyroid care from your doctor in charge.

Do I need to space out my thyroid medicine and the herbal medicine?

Take your thyroid medicine the way your attending doctor set. We will advise on timing once we confirm the name of the medicine.

How long do I need to take it?

There is no fixed period. After weight loss, the 3–6 months are a maintenance phase in which we step the stages down slowly.
